Ouroboros MMA aims to provide a safe, respectful and age-appropriate training environment for children and young people. Welfare takes priority over sporting achievement.
Safeguarding responsibility
The academy’s designated safeguarding responsibility is the first point of contact for concerns about a child, a coach, another member or academy practice. Ask at the academy for the current named lead, or use the dedicated email subject below so the concern is identified promptly. The concern will be recorded, shared only where necessary and referred to the appropriate statutory or governing body when required.
Coaching standards
Coaches working with under-18s hold enhanced DBS checks. Youth training uses age-appropriate instruction, managed contact, clear behavioural expectations and progressive technical development. Adults working with children are expected to maintain professional boundaries and respond to welfare concerns rather than investigating them personally.
Parents and carers
Parents and carers should provide accurate emergency and medical information through the approved membership or booking process, keep contact details current, and tell the coach about anything that may affect safe participation.
Raising a concern with the academy
If you are worried about a child, another member or conduct at the academy, use the safeguarding concern email or call 07393 859663. Give the facts you know, preserve any relevant messages and do not question a child repeatedly or investigate the matter yourself.
Independent and urgent help
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Members of the public can report a Hampshire child-welfare concern to Hampshire Children’s Services on 0300 555 1384, or out of hours on 0300 555 1373.
Further reporting guidance is available from the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership. Concerns about an adult working with children can also be referred through Hampshire’s Local Authority Designated Officer process.
Photography and communication
Images of young people should only be used with appropriate permission. Academy communication with children and families should remain appropriate, transparent and connected to training or welfare.
Review and accountability
This public summary supports, but does not replace, the academy’s operational safeguarding procedures. It should be reviewed at least annually and whenever programmes, personnel, governing-body requirements or relevant guidance change. The academy should display the current named safeguarding lead and contact details at the venue.
